Overview
James Beauton, Percussion Faculty Recital
What does it mean to be a percussionist? As the German word for percussion states (Schlagzeug; schlag = hit and zeug = things), is it just about hitting stuff? Or the fact that “the stuff” is plural, and perhaps infinite? Or that access to said “infinite stuff” became attainable only after a certain period of western globalization? Curious? Then join Dr. James Beauton as he attempts to answer some of these questions in a recital featuring solo percussion music of the 20th century.
