Catalina Barraza’s performance and pedagogical experiences span orchestral and chamber settings across the United States, Chile, Israel, Spain, Mexico, and Colombia. As a performer, she has appeared with the Symphony Santa Cruz, Symphony San Jose, San Jose Chamber Orchestra, Jackson Symphony Orchestra in Michigan, the World Orchestra, and the Colombia National Symphony Orchestra. She is also an active chamber musician, regularly performing new works in chamber music concerts and championing repertoire by living composers. Her commitment to this work includes commissioning pieces by Latin American composers and programming music by composers from historically underrepresented communities. 

As an orchestral conductor, she has led the Cambrian Symphony, Mason Youth Philharmonic in mid-Michigan, and the New Horizons chapter in East Lansing, Michigan. In past summers, she has also served as violin faculty and orchestra conductor at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.

An active pedagogue, scholar, and performer, Barraza is passionate about bringing music to students from diverse backgrounds. In the Bay Area, she regularly coaches youth orchestras. She has served as a lead violin teacher in the Overture program at the Sphinx Organization, and the Jackson Community Music School. She has also been a guest artist at the Conservatory of Music in Valdivia, Chile, through the Global Leaders Program.

Barraza’s scholarly interests include Latin American folk and popular music and their incorporation into contemporary composition. She explored this intersection in her College Music Symposium article on Colombian composer Juan Antonio Cuéllar.

Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Barraza is Assistant Professor of Violin and Viola at San Jose State University. She holds a doctorate in violin performance from Michigan State University, where she studied with Dr. Walter Verdehr, Dr. Er-Gene Kahng, and Francisco Iragorri. She also earned a Master of Music from the University of Arkansas and a bachelor’s degree in music from Javeriana University.

Philip Jung is an internationally recognized pianist and educator whose artistry bridges performance and pedagogy with a steadfast commitment to musical excellence. A graduate of The Juilliard School (B.M.) and Tel Aviv University (M.M., Magna Cum Laude), he studied under world-renowned pedagogues Prof. Arie Vardi, Prof. Matti Raekallio, and John McCarthy, whose mentorship profoundly shaped his artistic voice.

A four-time recipient of the Chopin Foundation of the United States Scholarship and First Prize winner of the Tel Aviv University Interschool Competition, Philip has earned distinction for his technical mastery, interpretive depth, and poetic sensitivity. His performances reflect an artistry that fuses intellectual rigor with emotional nuance, qualities that have defined his presence on international stages.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Philip has appeared at prestigious venues including Herbst Theatre and the Wattis Room at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, and has been featured as a distinguished soloist on the Jerusalem Radio  Station through Tel Aviv University. His concerto collaborations with the California Youth Symphony and Peninsula Symphony further underscore his expressive range and musical versatility.

Beyond performance, Philip is the Founder and Director of Keytone Academy in Mountain View, California, where he devotes his expertise to cultivating the next generation of musicians. He is developing a forward-thinking curriculum that merges technical precision, artistic expression, and intellectual engagement, uniquely tailored to each student’s strengths. His students have garnered top honors in national and international competitions and have performed at esteemed venues including Carnegie Hall.
