Biography

Education: Royal Academy of Music, London (DipRAM, LRAM); London University (BMus); Queens' College, Cambridge (PGCE); San José State University (MA, musicology); Cardiff University (PhD, musicology). Currently director of music at Church of the Advent, San Francisco and faculty member at San José State University. Former editor of The Beethoven Journal (2016-19); former editor of The Journal of the Association of Anglican Musicians (2010-15) and immediate past president of AAM (2019-20). Monograph, The Key to Beethoven: Connecting Tonality and Meaning in his Music (2014); editor/annotator, Dear Max/Lieber Malcom: The Rudolf/Frager Correspondence (2009). Contributor to The Beethoven Journal, The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Historical Performance in Music, Notes: Quarterly Journal of the Music Library Association, Nineteenth-Century Music Review, and the Three Choirs Festival.
