Joseph Lescher has been the Principal Bass of the San Francisco Opera for 25 years, since 1992. He was a past member of the Seattle Symphony and the Oregon Symphony and has worked with the San Francisco Ballet, Chicago Symphony, San Francisco Symphony and Milwaukee Symphony. He has also been a member of the Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson Wyoming for the past 9 years.
He teaches at San Francisco State, has taught at the San Francisco Conservatory in the past, and was on the faculty of the Asian Youth Orchestra.
Joe studied with Warren Benfield at DePaul University in Chicago. He also studied at the Academia Chigiana in Siena, Italy and in Sermoneta, Italy with renowned soloist and teacher Franco Petracchi for four summers. Other teachers have included Ed Barker, and Joe Guastafeste.
