IRINE LIN - VIOLA

Event Date: Friday, May 10 - 6:15 pm to 7:00 pm
Location: Creative Arts Building - Knuth Hall

Description of the event:

The year 1919 was a pivotal year for viola repertoire: two major pieces, Rebecca Clarke's Viola Sonata and Ernst Bloch's Viola Suite, were written and entered into the Berkshire Composition Competition sponsored by Elizabeth Sprague Coolidge.  With the judges split as to who should win first place, Mrs. Coolidge broke the tie by giving the award to the young Ernst Bloch.  To celebrate the 100th anniversary or the competition, you are invited to come and cast your vote on who you think the winner should have been.
